The last live performance I attended was a local show featuring Derek’s band. It was an intimate setting, filled with familiar faces and the raw energy that only a hometown gig can provide. Derek and his bandmates delivered an electrifying set that reminded me of the vibrant local music scene we have here.
However, the last major live performance I experienced—and one that I previously blogged about—was the unforgettable concert by Rod Stewart and Billy Joel at Cleveland Browns Stadium. As a die-hard Steelers fan, venturing into Browns territory was a bit of a personal challenge, but the music made it all worthwhile.
The concert was a spectacular showcase of two legendary artists. Rod Stewart, at 79, brought boundless energy to the stage, complete with multiple outfit changes and a setlist that included classics like “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” and covers such as “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” Billy Joel’s performance was equally mesmerizing, featuring hits like “Piano Man,” “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” and a surprise duet with Stewart on the Faces’ classic “Stay With Me.”
Reflecting on that night, it’s clear that music has the power to transcend rivalries and bring people together. Despite the stadium’s usual football affiliations, the concert was a unifying experience, filled with nostalgia and shared joy.
But the weekend wasn’t all smooth sailing. After the concert, an unexpected hotel mishap turned into a comedic adventure. A miscommunication with a food delivery, a locked elevator, and a pizza craving led to a series of events that were both frustrating and hilarious. I detailed this escapade in a separate post, which you can read here: .
Reflecting on that weekend, it’s clear that life is full of highs and lows, often intertwined in the most unexpected ways. From the euphoria of live music to the chaos of travel mishaps, these experiences remind us to embrace every moment.
