Legal Angel
Daily writing prompt
Tell us one thing you hope people say about you.

Let’s set the scene: it’s your farewell fiesta, complete with awkward hugs, bad punch, and at least one cousin who showed up just for the snacks. People are gathered, sharing stories, and someone steps up to the mic. Their voice wavers as they begin:

“She was… legendary.

Pause for dramatic effect.

Now, that’s the moment I’m going for. Not just a “She was nice” or “She always remembered birthdays,” but a full-blown, cinematic speech where people laugh, cry, and accidentally snort-laugh into their tissue. Bonus points if someone faints from the emotional rollercoaster.

For me, the ultimate compliment came when a few law clients called me their Legal Angel. And no, I didn’t float into court on a cloud or smite bad landlords with lightning bolts (though I wish I could—Karen from lease enforcement, consider this your warning). I just showed up, ready to help them tackle the chaos when they needed it most. Whether it was untangling legal knots or just being that one person who didn’t make them feel like their life was falling apart, I tried to be there. And if my wings were slightly skewed and my halo a little tarnished? So be it.

But real talk? I hope they say I was also the Hilarity Oracle. The one who could take the dumpster fires of life and spin them into something so funny you’d be crying—but in a good way. Like the time I sent my office neighbor’s Roomba back home wearing a Post-it that read ‘Feed Me.’ Or the unforgettable afternoon when I accidentally wore two completely different shoes to court—(that’ll teach me to grab court shoes out of my bottom desk drawer and not look closely enough at them)—and convinced the jury it was a statement on balance and justice. (Spoiler: it worked.)

Life isn’t perfect. It’s messy, weird, and often unfair (like when your favorite lipstick gets discontinued without warning—looking at you, MAC). But if I can make someone laugh so hard they forget their troubles, even for a moment, then I’ve done my job.

Let’s be real: the ultimate legacy isn’t just what you do but how you make people feel. Were you the one who could give the perfect pep talk? The champion of lost causes? Or maybe just the person who had a knack for texting “You up?” at the exact moment someone was about to spiral.

But hey, while we’re waxing poetic about legacies, let’s not forget the more practical side of life. Over at Voguegenics.com, we’re all about helping you look fabulous, feel empowered, and laugh through the chaos. Whether you’re looking for skincare tips, stress management secrets, or just a community that gets you, we’ve got your back—and maybe a latte or two waiting.

So here’s the question for you: when your party of the afterlife rolls around, what do you hope people will say about you? Drop it in the comments. Make us laugh, make us cry, and if you’ve got a story about making someone’s life better in the quirkiest, most ridiculous way possible, we definitely want to hear it. Let’s turn this into a legacy lovefest, one hilarious memory at a time.

P.S. Extra points if you’ve ever been called an angel, superhero, or the person who remembered to bring snacks. Those are the real MVPs.
