What relationships have a positive impact on you?

Relationships are like a good latte—they give you the boost you need when you’re running on empty, and sometimes they come with sprinkles of wisdom you didn’t even know you needed. Let’s talk about the people in my life who make the chaos of adulting feel like a Netflix rom-com instead of a suspense thriller.

1. The Cheerleaders

These are the people who text you, “You’ve got this!” right before a big meeting or send you funny GIFs at exactly the right time. They’re like human espresso shots—instant energy, no jitters. My cheerleaders remind me that even on the toughest days, there’s a reason to laugh, hydrate, and try again.*

2. The Truth-Tellers

You know them: the ones who lovingly (or bluntly) call you out when needed. Like when your best friend says, “You don’t need another sequin top,” or when your kid mentions you sound suspiciously like your mom. Truth-tellers might sting a little, but they keep you real—and that’s priceless.*

3. The Hydration Accountability Partners

These are the folks who casually ask, “How much water have you had today?” and somehow make you feel both seen and judged. They’re the unsung heroes of self-care, reminding me to sip smarter and prioritize wellness without turning into a complete health nut.*

4. The Fellow Dreamers

Big-picture pals who inspire you to chase your wildest dreams and remind you that no goal is too big—or too ridiculous. They’re the reason you try something new, say yes to big opportunities, and occasionally laugh at yourself along the way.*

Final Thoughts

Relationships fuel us in ways we don’t always realize. Whether they’re lifting us up, grounding us, or gently nudging us to drink more water, the people in our lives have a profound impact on our joy, health, and goals. Surround yourself with the ones who make you laugh, think, and strive for something better.

Dorey Duncan Scott Senior Litigation Paralegal
Hi! I’m Dorey Duncan Scott, a mother of three, wife and fashion entrepreneur. I started my career in fashion back in the early 90’s when I did print, still and runway modeling. I studied Fashion Merchandising, Music Business and Marketing, while also obtaining certificates in such industry-necessary areas such as make-up, styling and runway choreography. In addition, I had work as a spokesmodel for several brands, appearing in print and in person. As a former model, turned senior litigation paralegal, artist manager and on-air personality with a passion for fashion, beauty, and personal development, I bring a unique combination of style, strategic thinking, and legal expertise to my work. My years navigating the legal world have sharpened my attention to detail, while my experience and passion for fashion, beauty, and personal development drives my desire to help others feel empowered and help them in their journey toward self-empowerment. My experience in the fashion world has taught me the power of confidence.
