If we’re talking dream jobs, I’ve always had my sights set on something truly glamorous: helping people. Forget the sparkly uniforms or corner office with a view; my dream job is about making someone’s day better—preferably with a side of wit and maybe a well-timed latte recommendation.

But let’s not gloss over the other dream jobs I’m already crushing. First, there’s being a mom, which is basically running a start-up with zero funding, high-stakes negotiations (“No, you can’t eat cookies for dinner”), and a team that thinks “thank you” is optional. Then, there’s being a wife—a role that includes co-managing our household operations, cracking dad jokes to balance my husband’s, and occasionally hiding the good snacks. (Strategic snacking is critical in this field.)

Despite the daily chaos, helping people outside my inner circle has always been my true north.
