Dear Me at 100,
First of all, congratulations. You made it. A full century on this planet, and if I know you—and I do—you’ve done it with style, wit, and the occasional side-eye at anyone who suggested you should “act your age.”
Let’s get one thing straight: I hope you’re still wearing sequins. Even if they’re draped over a heated blanket because you’re cold all the time now, the point is—you’ve never been one to fade into the background. And I sincerely hope you never started.
By now, you’ve lived through so many versions of yourself. The dreamer, the doer, the risk-taker, the heartbreaker, the nurturer, the fighter, the believer. You’ve reinvented, rebuilt, and reclaimed your space more times than you can count. And while the world may see you as “100,” you and I both know age is just a number. A number that, let’s be honest, we stopped keeping close track of somewhere around 39.
Did We Get It Right?
I imagine you sitting somewhere beautiful—maybe at our family home, in that picnic shelter Grandpa built, watching the trees sway as a warm breeze carries laughter from your grandkids (or great-grandkids?!) across the yard. You sip on a latte (obviously), still savoring the small luxuries because, in the end, those are what matter most.
But let’s get real for a second. Did we do it right? Did we say yes when we should have? Did we say no when our boundaries needed guarding? Did we love as fiercely as we always swore we would?
Did we never stop creating?
Because if there’s one thing I hope you still carry, it’s that fire. That unrelenting passion for storytelling, for inspiring, for showing the world what’s possible when you refuse to dim your light.
What I Hope For You
I hope you still have audacity.
To laugh too loud, to dance when the mood strikes, to speak your mind without apology.
I hope you still have curiosity.
That even at 100, you’re still learning, exploring, and asking questions. Because wisdom isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about knowing there’s always more to discover.
I hope you still have love.
For the people who matter most. For the life you built. For yourself—in all your wrinkled, radiant, unforgettable glory.
And if you’re reading this and thinking, Oh honey, we did all that and more, then good. That’s exactly what I wanted to hear.
One Last Thing…
If you haven’t already, tell the world your story. Not just the polished version, but the messy, beautiful, raw, and real one. The one that proves a woman can be strong and soft, fierce and kind, glamorous and grounded—all at once.
