Brain Fog and Yucky Vibes: A Personal Update

In today's post, Dorey shares her experiences with brain fog and low energy, acknowledging that some days are not meant for productivity. She emphasizes the importance of resting when feeling unwell and invites readers to find comfort in solidarity during tough times. Today's focus is on self-care rather than achievement.

Hi, lovelies—

Today’s post is brought to you by…
✨ Brain fog
✨ Low energy
✨ And the kind of vibe that screams “don’t even look at me unless you brought carbs.”

If you’ve ever had a chronic illness, a brain injury, or just one of those mysterious health rollercoasters that makes you feel like your head is full of mashed potatoes and static electricity—hi. Welcome. Pull up a weighted blanket.

I woke up today and knew immediately: this is not going to be a highly productive, all-systems-go, latte-and-goals kind of day. No, no. Today is more of a “try not to cry while trying to spell basic words” kind of day.

My head feels weird. Not dramatic, not ER-worthy (don’t worry, Derek, I’m not dying—probably), but just… off. And when my brain decides to peace out for the day, I’ve learned the hard way: I either rest, or I crash harder than my WiFi during a Zoom call.

So here’s the deal:
You’ll still get one main post today (we’re not barbarians), but after that, I’m tapping out. No bonus blogs, no surprise reels, no metaphorical confetti. Just me, my water bottle, and a nap that might last until next Tuesday.

If you need something to read, we’ve got plenty in the archives. And if you’re also having a not-so-glam day? Solidarity, my sparkle-deprived soul sibling.

We’ll try again tomorrow. For now: less grind, more grace.

🖤

Dorey Duncan Scott Senior Litigation Paralegal
Hi! I’m Dorey Duncan Scott, a mother of three, wife and fashion entrepreneur. I started my career in fashion back in the early 90’s when I did print, still and runway modeling. I studied Fashion Merchandising, Music Business and Marketing, while also obtaining certificates in such industry-necessary areas such as make-up, styling and runway choreography. In addition, I had work as a spokesmodel for several brands, appearing in print and in person. As a former model, turned senior litigation paralegal, artist manager and on-air personality with a passion for fashion, beauty, and personal development, I bring a unique combination of style, strategic thinking, and legal expertise to my work. My years navigating the legal world have sharpened my attention to detail, while my experience and passion for fashion, beauty, and personal development drives my desire to help others feel empowered and help them in their journey toward self-empowerment. My experience in the fashion world has taught me the power of confidence.
