a Determined Person Tears Through a Plastic Barrier Symbolizing Breaking Personal Limits and Mental Blocks

I used to think my biggest problem was fear.
But it wasn’t.

My problem was smallness—the kind I wore like a safety blanket. I didn’t want to be judged. I didn’t want to fail. I didn’t want to need help. So I shrank. Quietly. Elegantly. Invisibly.

And I’m not doing that anymore.

If you’re done apologizing for wanting more, and done pretending you’re fine staying stuck—this post is your permission slip.

🚧 The Truth About Your “Limits”

The limits we believe in most are the ones we were taught to carry:

  • “Be realistic.”
  • “Don’t be dramatic.”
  • “Who do you think you are?”

And so we stay inside the lines—until we realize the lines are a cage.

Your comfort zone may feel safe, but it’s not neutral. It’s quietly training you to stop growing.

You’re not stuck because you’re lazy.
You’re stuck because you were told it’s safer not to want more.

🧠 What Is a No-Limits Mindset?

It’s not about becoming fearless. It’s about becoming unavailable for the stories that keep you small.

A no-limits mindset means:

  • You catch your inner critic in the act—and challenge it
  • You dare to take up space, even if you shake while doing it
  • You stop performing “perfect” and start showing up real
  • You act before you feel fully ready
  • You understand discomfort doesn’t mean danger—it means you’re growing

🧭 5 Ways to Start Breaking Your Own Limits

Inspired by the posts from my recent mindset series, here’s a starting place:

1. Say It Out Loud

Declare what you’re no longer tolerating—especially from yourself.

2. Find Support

Don’t go it alone. Mentors and communities accelerate growth.

3. Make a Micro-Plan

You don’t need a 90-day glow-up. You need one bold move. Make it small, specific, and schedule it.

4. Track Your Stretching

Confidence grows when you collect proof. That’s why I made a journal to help you do just that—every single day.

5. Dare Yourself Daily

Boldness is a muscle. The more you use it, the more natural it feels. (Even if your voice shakes.)

Dorey Duncan Scott Senior Litigation Paralegal
Hi! I’m Dorey Duncan Scott, a mother of three, wife and fashion entrepreneur. I started my career in fashion back in the early 90’s when I did print, still and runway modeling. I studied Fashion Merchandising, Music Business and Marketing, while also obtaining certificates in such industry-necessary areas such as make-up, styling and runway choreography. In addition, I had work as a spokesmodel for several brands, appearing in print and in person. As a former model, turned senior litigation paralegal, artist manager and on-air personality with a passion for fashion, beauty, and personal development, I bring a unique combination of style, strategic thinking, and legal expertise to my work. My years navigating the legal world have sharpened my attention to detail, while my experience and passion for fashion, beauty, and personal development drives my desire to help others feel empowered and help them in their journey toward self-empowerment. My experience in the fashion world has taught me the power of confidence.
