Bride with Closed Eyes Hugging Her Groom with Text Overlay dont Do This on Your Wedding Day Featured Image for Voguegenics Bridal Beauty Blog Post

It’s your wedding day. Your playlist is queued. Your robe is monogrammed. Someone’s definitely crying over mimosa #1. But you? You’re in the bathroom with tweezers, precision anxiety, and a suddenly way-too-bright makeup mirror.

Girl. No. Put. The Tweezers. Down.

Why You Should Never Do Your Brows the Day Of:

1. Redness + swelling = not the aesthetic.
Even the best brow wax or tweeze can leave skin irritated. Cameras — especially flash photography — love to highlight that little ring of regret above your arches.

2. Makeup won’t sit right.
Freshly waxed or tweezed skin is more sensitive and prone to product slippage. Translation: your foundation and concealer won’t blend like they usually do, especially around the brows.

3. One slip = no time to fix it.
You don’t want to spend your wedding morning crying over a tail that vanished or an arch that’s now a triangle. Mistakes are common when nerves are high.

So, When Should You Do Your Brows?

📆 3–5 days before the wedding is your sweet spot. This gives any redness time to fade and allows your skin to calm before the big day.

🪞 Light clean-up the day before (if needed). Just remove obvious strays beneath the brow. Don’t reshape. Don’t reinvent. You’ve got vows to slay.

🧖‍♀️ Hydrate and prep your skin. Your face should be calm, smooth, and radiant — not freshly waxed and fighting inflammation.

But My Hair Grows Fast… Won’t It Look Fuzzy Again?!

Totally get it — and here’s the thing: your brows (and body hair in general) grow faster than you think. In fact, eyebrow hair grows at about 0.16mm a day, and you may not even see regrowth for several days after waxing or tweezing.

The chart below, adapted from beauty industry standards, gives you a general timeline:

  • Eyebrows: ~0.16mm per day
  • Body Hair: ~0.27mm per day
  • Facial Peach Fuzz: ~0.4mm per day

So don’t panic. A few soft hairs won’t show up in wedding photos. Over-tweezing will.

Illustrated 3 phase Eyebrow Growth Cycle Showing Anagen Catagen and Telogen Stages with a Detailed Explanation of How Brows Grow and Regrow over Time
This Infographic from Voguegenics Breaks Down the 3 Phases of the Eyebrow Hair Growth Cycle Anagen growth Catagen transition and Telogen resting and Explains How Brow Regrowth Works over a 12 to 15 Week Cycle

🧬 Bonus Insight: The Science Behind Brow Regrowth

Ever wonder why your brows seem to misbehave right when you need them perfect? It’s because all body hair — including brows — follows a 3-phase growth cycle:

🧪 Anagen (Growth Phase)
Cells divide rapidly in the follicle, producing new hair.

🔄 Catagen (Transition Phase)
Growth pauses, and the follicle begins to shrink.

😴 Telogen (Resting Phase)
The hair stays put, but no new growth happens — until it cycles back to anagen.

Eyebrows, specifically, have one of the slowest growth cycles in the body — averaging 12 to 15 weeks per full regrowth. That’s why over-tweezing days before your wedding can haunt your face in flash photography.
