a Woman with Long Blonde Hair Holding a Warm Mug Gazing out the Window on a Peaceful Morning Representing Everyday Happiness
Daily writing prompt
What are 5 everyday things that bring you happiness?

Not every joy in life comes wrapped in Chanel or sprinkled with passport stamps—sometimes happiness is holding a warm latte and remembering your password on the first try. I’m not saying I’ve cracked the code to eternal bliss, but I am saying these five little things get me through most Tuesdays without flipping a table.

1. The Sacred Morning Latte
Forget green juice. My day starts when the milk froths.
This isn’t just caffeine. It’s a creamy, dreamy therapy session served in a mug—preferably one that says “Doing My Best” in gold foil. Those few quiet sips before the house erupts into chaos? Bliss.
Bonus happiness if I can drink it hot.

2. A Phone That’s Fully Charged (and So Am I)
100% battery. 100% drama-free inbox. 100% chance I’m lying about the drama part.
There’s something wildly underrated about having a fully charged phone and zero obligations. I could check analytics, draft a reel, or… let’s be honest, rewatch cat videos on TikTok until my brain purrs.

3. A House That Looks Like a Pinterest Board—Even If Only for 14 Minutes
You know that moment when the house smells like lemongrass and ambition? When the throw pillows are aggressively fluffed and nobody’s left a sock in the fridge?
Yeah, that.
Especially when I didn’t lift a finger to make it happen. My love language is “someone else ran the vacuum.”

4. When My Kids Are Laughing and It’s NOT Bodily Function Humor
I love a good giggle-fest—especially when it doesn’t involve someone yelling “DOODY!” from across the house.
They may be adults, but when Zayne, Zarek, or Zavary are home and let out those full-belly, snort-laughs over something genuinely funny? My heart does a little cartwheel. It’s like the universe winks and says, “You’re doing okay, Mama.”

5. Making Someone Feel Understood (Even If We Just Met Online)
There’s nothing like that moment when someone messages me and says, “Wow, I needed this.”
Whether it’s a self-care post, a glow-up pep talk, or just a blog that hits the feels—reminding someone they’re not alone? That’s my soul’s version of sunshine.
And yeah, that includes you reading this. 🫶

Now You Spill: What Are Your Happy Little Things?
Drop ‘em in the comments, write your own post, or shout it from your Instagram story. Just don’t keep the joy bottled up. This world needs more “me too” moments and less “just me?” ones.

Dorey Duncan Scott Senior Litigation Paralegal
Hi! I’m Dorey Duncan Scott, a mother of three, wife and fashion entrepreneur. I started my career in fashion back in the early 90’s when I did print, still and runway modeling. I studied Fashion Merchandising, Music Business and Marketing, while also obtaining certificates in such industry-necessary areas such as make-up, styling and runway choreography. In addition, I had work as a spokesmodel for several brands, appearing in print and in person. As a former model, turned senior litigation paralegal, artist manager and on-air personality with a passion for fashion, beauty, and personal development, I bring a unique combination of style, strategic thinking, and legal expertise to my work. My years navigating the legal world have sharpened my attention to detail, while my experience and passion for fashion, beauty, and personal development drives my desire to help others feel empowered and help them in their journey toward self-empowerment. My experience in the fashion world has taught me the power of confidence.
