Daily writing prompt
Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?

This is such a powerful question. For me, the answer changes depending on the day, the mood, or even the season of life I’m in. But if I’m being honest, I probably spend more time thinking about the future than the past.

The future is this vast, unwritten story that’s equal parts thrilling and terrifying. It’s where my dreams live—those big, audacious goals I’m always chasing—but it’s also where the unknown resides. Will I achieve what I set out to? Will I become the person I’m striving to be? It’s a mixed bag of hope, ambition, and the occasional bout of anxiety. But mostly, it’s exciting. The idea that tomorrow holds endless possibilities keeps me going. 🌟

That said, the past is never too far away. It creeps in during quiet moments—when a song triggers a memory, when I’m sorting through old photos, or when I stumble upon something I wrote years ago. Sometimes, it feels like the past is this grounding force, reminding me of where I’ve been and how much I’ve grown. Other times, it can be a weight, tugging at my sleeve with “what ifs” and “I should haves.”

I’ve realized the trick is balance. Learning from the past without living there, and planning for the future without getting so caught up in “what’s next” that I miss the present. Easier said than done, right? But it’s worth striving for.

So, what about you? Are you more drawn to the future’s possibilities or the past’s lessons? Share your thoughts—I’d love to hear!
