Daily writing prompt
Describe a risk you took that you do not regret.

Let’s get one thing straight: I’ve never been the “play it safe and stay quiet” type. I was born with a voice (and probably a sequin or two in my DNA), and I learned early that life doesn’t hand you a megaphone—you build your own, decorate it with crystals, and make it loud.

So when people ask me about risks I don’t regret, my answer is simple:

Starting Voguegenics.

In the middle of chaos. With nothing but a cracked laptop, a head full of ideas, and a wildly romantic notion that self-care could be both sacred and sparkly.

It wasn’t “logical.”
It wasn’t “timely.”
It wasn’t even “safe.”
But it was necessary.

Because behind every blog post, podcast clip, and moon-charged ritual I’ve written, there’s been one driving belief: we deserve more.

More joy. More glow. More moments where we choose ourselves, unapologetically.

And let me tell you, the reward?
It hasn’t just been analytics or affiliate wins (though, yes, please keep clicking). It’s been hearing from someone who said a post got them through their rough day. Or watching a caregiver cry when they realized they’re not alone. Or seeing a woman redefine her confidence, one bold outfit at a time.

That risk?
It gave me purpose. It gave me you—my community, my people, my glitter tribe.

So no, I don’t regret it.
Not the sleepless nights.
Not the imposter syndrome spiral I rode like a rodeo queen.
Not even the SEO nightmares.

Because out of that risk, Voguegenics was born.
And from it? A whole movement that says:

✨ You are allowed to take up space.
✨ You are allowed to reinvent.
✨ You are allowed to glow like the moon and roar like a queen.

And babe, we’re just getting started.

Hi! I’m Dorey Duncan Scott, a mother of three, wife and fashion entrepreneur. I started my career in fashion back in the early 90’s when I did print, still and runway modeling. I studied Fashion Merchandising, Music Business and Marketing, while also obtaining certificates in such industry-necessary areas such as make-up, styling and runway choreography. In addition, I had work as a spokesmodel for several brands, appearing in print and in person. As a former model, turned senior litigation paralegal, artist manager and on-air personality with a passion for fashion, beauty, and personal development, I bring a unique combination of style, strategic thinking, and legal expertise to my work. My years navigating the legal world have sharpened my attention to detail, while my experience and passion for fashion, beauty, and personal development drives my desire to help others feel empowered and help them in their journey toward self-empowerment. My experience in the fashion world has taught me the power of confidence.
