Woman in White Sitting in Desert Beside Quote she Remembered Who She Was and the Game Changed by Lalah Delia
Daily writing prompt
Do you have a quote you live your life by or think of often?

There’s a quote I return to again and again, like a well-worn pair of heels that still somehow make you feel like you own the runway:

“She remembered who she was, and the game changed.” — Lalah Delia

It’s not just a quote. It’s a whole mood. A full-body shimmer. A mental reset button. I’ve whispered it to myself in bathrooms during court recesses, on tour buses stuffed with hairspray and sequins, and during 2 a.m. website meltdowns when Bluehost decided to practice sloth-core performance art.

This quote isn’t about perfection. It’s about permission. Permission to be loud. Quiet. Soft. Sharp. Glittery. Grieving. Grounded. Glowing.

It’s a reminder that empowerment isn’t something you buy — it’s something you reclaim. And if you forget? No shame. Just remember again.

Voguegenics was built on the bones of that quote — because once I remembered who I was, the blog stopped being “a hobby” and started becoming a voice. A mission. A movement.

And if today you’re feeling a little off your axis? A little wobbly in your glow-up journey? That’s okay. Just pause. Take a breath. And remember who you are.

Game on.

Dorey Duncan Scott Senior Litigation Paralegal
Hi! I’m Dorey Duncan Scott, a mother of three, wife and fashion entrepreneur. I started my career in fashion back in the early 90’s when I did print, still and runway modeling. I studied Fashion Merchandising, Music Business and Marketing, while also obtaining certificates in such industry-necessary areas such as make-up, styling and runway choreography. In addition, I had work as a spokesmodel for several brands, appearing in print and in person. As a former model, turned senior litigation paralegal, artist manager and on-air personality with a passion for fashion, beauty, and personal development, I bring a unique combination of style, strategic thinking, and legal expertise to my work. My years navigating the legal world have sharpened my attention to detail, while my experience and passion for fashion, beauty, and personal development drives my desire to help others feel empowered and help them in their journey toward self-empowerment. My experience in the fashion world has taught me the power of confidence.
