What is your favorite type of weather?

Let’s get one thing straight: I’m not here for the polite version of spring—the one painted in pastels and perfectly staged for Pinterest. No, my favorite kind of weather is the kind that smells like second chances. The kind where the rain doesn’t just fall, it rinses the last remnants of winter off your soul. That’s springtime. And yes, it’s absolutely my favorite.

There’s something deeply personal about spring. It doesn’t ask for permission. It just shows up—loud, moody, fragrant. One day it’s 40 degrees and foggy, the next you’re throwing on a sundress and debating if sandals are too soon. (They’re not.) The whole season is basically Mother Nature’s mood board: a little chaotic, occasionally messy, but always moving toward beauty.

And maybe that’s why I love it so much. Spring feels like a metaphor for real life—the kind of transformation that doesn’t wait for you to feel ready. Things start blooming before you’ve caught up. And somehow, that feels right.

This time of year always pulls me into a soft reset. Not the forced, resolution-heavy kind of January, but the kind that whispers, “Hey… let’s clear some space.” Suddenly I want to open windows, purge closets, swap out my winter skincare routine, and start paying more attention to what my body needs. (Seasonal self-care, anyone?) The fresh air practically dares you to become the version of yourself you’ve been daydreaming about while buried under weighted blankets.

And don’t even get me started on spring beauty. There’s a glow to skin that’s kissed by a little sun and hydrated after months of indoor heat. It’s the perfect time to transition your skincare routine or experiment with a softer makeup palette that complements the natural flush the season brings. (Trust me, spring is the real glow-up season. Winter walked so spring could shimmer.)

But beyond the wardrobe swaps and skincare shifts, what I love most is how spring makes hope feel tangible. You can see it. Smell it. Hear it in the birds losing their little minds at 6 a.m.

So yes, when people ask my favorite type of weather, I say springtime—without hesitation. Give me the rainy days and the muddy shoes. Give me the sudden bursts of sunshine that make you pull over just to sit in it for a minute. Give me growth, in all its imperfect glory.

Because no other season reminds me quite so beautifully that becoming isn’t supposed to be neat. It’s supposed to be real.
