Booked & Blessed: 3 Reads That Changed Me in Heels and in Healing

Daily writing prompt
List three books that have had an impact on you. Why?

Let’s be real—some books read you back.

You start out innocently flipping pages with your latte in hand, and the next thing you know, you’re deep into a soul excavation, sobbing into your silk robe or planning a glow-up so powerful even your past regrets would say, “who is she?”

Here are three books that didn’t just impact me—they renovated me. From the way I think to the way I show up for myself, these stories live rent-free in my mind and have permanent suite status on my bookshelf.

1. “The Gifts of Imperfection” by Brené Brown

This book gave me permission to drop the mask—and keep the lipstick. Brené’s call to live wholeheartedly hit like a glitter bomb to the heart. I’d spent so long striving to “have it all together” (you know, the Type-A glam life), and this book reminded me that my mess was not just forgivable, but lovable.

💡 Impact:
It rewired how I view vulnerability. Now, when I cry in the grocery store, I just call it “emotional exfoliation.”

2. “Women Who Run with the Wolves” by Clarissa Pinkola Estés

This one’s less of a book and more of a primal howl. It didn’t whisper self-help—it howled it. Every myth, every archetype, every deeply rooted feminine instinct laid bare—reminding me that the wild woman inside me wasn’t something to tame, but to trust.

💡 Impact:
I stopped apologizing for being “too much.” Too loud, too sensitive, too bold—turns out, all that wildness was wisdom waiting to lead.

3. “Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert

If fear had me by the ankle, this book unclipped the leash. “Big Magic” handed me creative permission slips like candy and reminded me that I don’t need to suffer for my art—I just need to show up. It made me fall back in love with creating for the sheer joy of it.

💡 Impact:
I stopped waiting for perfect conditions and just started. Voguegenics, V’Empower, V’Luma—all of it owes a little glitter to this book.
