What makes you nervous?

Let’s talk about nerves. Not the chic kind that make you fluttery before a Voguegenics livestream or a perfectly-lit selfie moment. No, I’m talking about the actual stomach-churning, palm-sweating, maybe-I-should-hide-in-the-linen-closet type of nervous.

What makes me nervous? Pull up a velvet chair. I’ll spill.

It’s that moment when someone says, “Can I ask you something?” and then immediately goes silent. Um. No. Absolutely not. You cannot just ask me something and then pause for dramatic effect like we’re in a Shonda Rhimes finale.

It’s when my kid says, “Don’t freak out, but…” Oh honey. Freaking out is already in progress. The only thing keeping me from grabbing a paper bag is the hope that whatever follows doesn’t involve bleach, glitter, or a TikTok trend involving fire.

It’s when a plugin update says “this may break your site.” That phrase sends more chills down my spine than a ghost whispering SEO secrets through the HVAC system.

It’s when I post a blog at 2 a.m., then refresh my analytics like I’m trying to summon a genie. Because yes, I know the post was insightful, on-brand, and polished. But is the internet treating it like the literary grail it is? Or is it sitting alone like a forgotten latte?

Speaking of which — that’s another one. Cold lattes. They make me nervous. They symbolize broken promises and unclicked links.

But you know what doesn’t make me nervous anymore?

Growth. Visibility. And leaning into the beautifully chaotic magic of building something meaningful online.

If you’re still reading, you’re one of the reasons I keep showing up — even when the nerves try to rent a condo in my chest.

So here’s my gentle ask:

Dorey Duncan Scott Senior Litigation Paralegal
Hi! I’m Dorey Duncan Scott, a mother of three, wife and fashion entrepreneur. I started my career in fashion back in the early 90’s when I did print, still and runway modeling. I studied Fashion Merchandising, Music Business and Marketing, while also obtaining certificates in such industry-necessary areas such as make-up, styling and runway choreography. In addition, I had work as a spokesmodel for several brands, appearing in print and in person. As a former model, turned senior litigation paralegal, artist manager and on-air personality with a passion for fashion, beauty, and personal development, I bring a unique combination of style, strategic thinking, and legal expertise to my work. My years navigating the legal world have sharpened my attention to detail, while my experience and passion for fashion, beauty, and personal development drives my desire to help others feel empowered and help them in their journey toward self-empowerment. My experience in the fashion world has taught me the power of confidence.
