a Woman in a White Dress is Entangled in Ropes Held by Multiple Hands Pulling in Different Directions Symbolizing the Emotional Overwhelm of Being Constantly Needed by Others Overlaid Text Reads lesson 2 when Everyone Needs You and You Need Space

When Everyone Needs You—And You Need Space

Lesson Two emphasizes the importance of self-care amidst the chaos of supporting loved ones. It acknowledges the guilt of feeling overwhelmed and stresses that needing space is not selfish. The reflection prompts encourage finding moments for oneself without guilt, highlighting the need to reclaim personal time in daily life.

Lesson Two

Some days, you’re the calm in the chaos.

The one who answers the late-night calls.
The one who remembers birthdays.
The one who keeps the fridge stocked, the appointments managed, the emotions soothed.

But what happens when everyone needs you—and you need a moment to breathe?

You love your people. You want to show up. But you’re also human. And the more you’re pulled in every direction, the more you feel like you’re disappearing in the middle.

It’s not selfish to need space.
It’s not weakness to admit you’re overwhelmed.
It’s not wrong to want five minutes where no one needs anything from you.

You are not a bad partner.
Not a bad mom.
Not a bad friend.
You’re just a person. A person with limits—and that’s okay.

Today’s reflection is simple:
How do I reclaim just a little space without guilt?
Not tomorrow. Not next year. Now.

🧠 Today’s Reflection Prompt:

Where in my day is there space I’ve been giving away?

How can I reclaim one moment—for me—without guilt?

Hi! I’m Dorey Duncan Scott, a mother of three, wife and fashion entrepreneur. I started my career in fashion back in the early 90’s when I did print, still and runway modeling. I studied Fashion Merchandising, Music Business and Marketing, while also obtaining certificates in such industry-necessary areas such as make-up, styling and runway choreography. In addition, I had work as a spokesmodel for several brands, appearing in print and in person. As a former model, turned senior litigation paralegal, artist manager and on-air personality with a passion for fashion, beauty, and personal development, I bring a unique combination of style, strategic thinking, and legal expertise to my work. My years navigating the legal world have sharpened my attention to detail, while my experience and passion for fashion, beauty, and personal development drives my desire to help others feel empowered and help them in their journey toward self-empowerment. My experience in the fashion world has taught me the power of confidence.
