At my age, my parents weren’t debating the best angle for their latest Instagram Reel or wondering if the TikTok algorithm had a personal vendetta against them. No, they were out in the real world, being the kind of productive that didn’t require WiFi.
My father? An electrician by trade, keeping the lights on in more ways than one—because he also ran a tavern, a profession that, ironically, meant he was also responsible for many people seeing double. Meanwhile, my mother was the backbone of it all, handling the books, the business, and probably more chaos than she signed up for.
And here I am, existing in a world where “content creator” is a career path and my biggest stressor today might be whether or not my latte aesthetic matches my current vibe. My parents built things. I brand things. Same energy, different execution.
So tell me—what were your parents doing at your age? And more importantly, are we all secretly just turning into slightly trendier versions of them?
