Back View of Woman in a Formal Dress

When a girl feels her prom night is around the corner, a number of ideas come across her mind from finding the perfect dress, to getting a date, nails, makeup, and of course, how she will style her hair.

There are so many styles to choose from: straight, curly, braided, updo, half up half down, you get the point. So how does one decide?

Well, first let’s consider the dress. If your dress is open back, you will probably want to have an updo, to show off your back! Try on your dress and play around with your hair to see which style will accent the dress best!

Talk to a stylist or a friend that you can trust with your hair. They may have the perfect vision in mind, and can style it for you to take the pressure off your shoulders.

You should call the salon at least one to two months prior to prom to set your appointment. Many other girls will also be setting their appointments and you want to be sure to have yours. Jot down the date and confirm the appointment 2 or 3 days before the date to make sure nothing has changed.

Hair accessories are also super important! If your dress is simple, you may consider dressing it up with a hair accessory.

Explain to your friends or your stylist what the exact look is that you want, and consider having a trial. Most salons gladly will guide you through many prom hairstyles until you find the right one, whether with hair extensions, up-dos, long hairstyles or short hairstyles.
