What do you enjoy doing most in your leisure time?

Leisure time, for me, isn’t a passive event. It’s a carefully curated experience—equal parts indulgence, curiosity, and just a hint of the dramatic. Here’s how I turn my downtime into an art form.

1. Researching Rabbit Holes (a.k.a. Intellectual Adventures)

When I’m not writing, I’m likely diving headfirst into a historical or cultural curiosity. Take corsets, for example—those architectural marvels that defined centuries of fashion and sparked debates about freedom and restriction. I recently watched a fascinating video and found myself not only captivated by their history but also wondering if a modern corset could add some edge to my wardrobe. I call it “productive procrastination,” but honestly, it’s a lifestyle.

2. Solving the Mysteries of People-Watching

Few things bring me as much joy as a latte, a good view, and a cast of unwitting characters strolling by. People-watching is my favorite way to combine leisure with imagination. That impeccably dressed man checking his phone? Probably negotiating the return of a priceless artifact. The woman with the oversized tote bag? Definitely hiding something more than groceries. It’s my own personal soap opera, and the best part? I’m the writer, director, and audience all in one.

3. Elevating Relaxation to an Art Form

Some people see relaxation as a chance to unwind; I see it as an opportunity to create ambiance. My version of leisure starts with the wardrobe—because yes, lounging in sequins is absolutely a thing. Add a steaming latte, a cozy spot to stretch out, and perhaps a beautifully designed notebook to capture ideas. It’s less about doing nothing and more about doing everything—but in style.

There’s something about creating a scene that feels luxurious, even if I’m just brainstorming the next Voguegenics post. A little glamour turns ordinary downtime into a sensory experience, one that makes me feel centered, creative, and (let’s be honest) just a little fabulous.

4. Planning the Next Big Thing

Leisure is also my think tank. Whether I’m dreaming up new ways to empower Voguegenics readers or crafting ideas for a creative project, my downtime is never idle. It’s where the magic begins, fueled by equal parts daydreams and determination. If I’m not planning the next step, I’m already taking it.

So, that’s how I spend my leisure time: diving into rabbit holes, creating stories out of strangers, making relaxation a masterpiece, and plotting the future. How about you? What’s your signature take on downtime?
