For Filling

  • 6 cup sliced apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

For Crumble Topping

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • cup unsalted butte cold, cubed

For Crust

  • 1 9-inch pie crust unbaked

Instructions
 

For Pie

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
  • In a bowl, toss sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice
  • Pour mixture into pie crust

For Crumble Topping

  • Combine flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon
  • Cut in cold butter with a pastry cutter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs
  • Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples
  • Bake for 1 hour or until apples are tender and the topping is golden brown
  • Let cool before serving
