A Thanksgiving staple, this smooth and spiced pumpkin pie is the ultimate fall dessert.

Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 1 can pumpkin puree 15 ounce
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 can evaporated milk 12 ounce
  • 1 9-inch pie crust unbaked

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C)
  • In a mixing bowl, combine pumpkin, sugar, salt, and pumpkin pie spice
  • Beat in eggs
  • Gradually stir in evaporated milk
  • Pour the filling into the pie crust
  • Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes
  • Reduce the temperature to 350°F
  • Bake for an additional 40 minutes, or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean
  • Cool on a wire rack
  • Serve with whipped cream if desired
